I have set up an IMAP connection within Outlook for Gmail which at present doesn't deliver anything to Outlook. This account is the Default address within Outlook. At present, this existing address is set up as a POP service (which is the recommended protocol by the ISP) but if I need to change it I will. So, for the next 12 months I will pay for my existing email address to divert and forward emails to my Outlook 365 application on my PC. These are useful for mobility of application. I can see the benefit and flexibility with Gmail to service my Desktop PC which is my main machine, my Laptop, my iPad and iPhone where the Apple devices use the Apple Mail app which is fed by Gmail. My plan to remedy this is to use Gmail as a service to use Outlook as my front-end email application, where I have an existing folder structure as well as an archive and many years worth of content.
